OSIR was born in 1983 in the Lisbon District, Amadora municipality, where he lived until he was 25. His love for drawing and art in general emerged at a very early age, and over the years this relationship grew and matured until it became part of his daily life.
Consequently, his foray into the arts group, where he spent most of his time drawing (in and out of class) common objects, faces, or lettering, quickly led him to become interested in clandestine graffiti. Both for the adventure and adrenaline rush, but also for the public exposure of his more mysterious and enigmatic side. His interest turned into a passion, and the experiences he lived gradually transformed him as a person and an artist.
In this project, where he works with unlikely and unexplored materials, he uses rules and basic geometric figures to create the compositions he presents in his pieces. The featured material is the mirror, which uses an innovative technique to work with this material, not only for its complexity, dynamism, and depth, but mainly for its symbolism.
The project is based on a concept steeped in symbolism, and the works convey several implicit and explicit messages, with the main objective being a reflection on the individual, those around them, and the world they inhabit. “We live in an antagonistic world, in which electronic devices are increasingly connected, and in contrast, human beings are increasingly disconnected from their principles, their values, others, and themselves.”
The project also aims to enable people to participate in, influence, and transform the work, becoming an integral part of it, through the reflection of themselves, its colors, and shapes. “The most interesting thing is that each person will have a different perception of the same work and will have the ability to make it their own and unique.”
